BLOG PAGE STYLE #2
- Well, looking at the last week, it would seem as though winter has set in.
- So obviously carpet cleaning is out of the question, right?
- Of course not, it just means we need to think out of the box!
- There are ways to speed drying, whether it be choice of cleaning system, use of ventilation or use of dryers.
- We can accommodate whatever our customers may need.
- So, don’t hold back just because of the cold weather, make sure to give us a yell and book in if your carpets, upholstery or tiles are looking shabby
- They won’t be looking any cleaner come spring time!!
- And if you’re unlucky enough to suffer water ingress from a storm over the next few months, make sure you don’t delay calling us to sort it out – unless of course you simply want to replace them!
- Last week you may remember my tale of the viscose lounge suite.
- This week is a tale of the hidden viscose carpet.
- Customer that wanted 60% wool, 40% silk rug cleaned.
- Ok, can be problematic but we’ll deal with it.
- Get there and find out that what they thought was silk was in fact Art Silk – Art short for artificial! And it is not a very good fibre at all!!
- It is being snuck into all manner of fabrics and carpeting as it looks and feels luxurious. It’s even touted as “green”, which is an utter lie as a by-product is CS2, a very toxic substance!
- People, don’t believe the hype! If you or anyone you know is about to buy furniture or rugs in particular, please run it by me first before you make a potentially disastrous mistake by buying the wrong fabric.
- These are ticking time bombs and are already creating havoc amongst the cleaning fraternity.
- We cleaned a viscose theatre setting yesterday.
- Whoopee I can hear you saying.
- Except that this a suite with a price in the tens of thousands and a fibre that is super fussy – loses 70% of its strength when wet, needs grooming after any cleaning or any tooling marks will be permanent.
- In fact, a fellow carpet cleaner just ruined a similar one after following the manufacturers guidelines to a “T” – even the manufacturer didn’t know how bad it is!
- But we have a pretty good idea, so nose to the grindstone yesterday, Carl and I 4 hrs to clean it!
- So, if you need someone that can look after your precious upholstery, Call us at Fresh Aire
This week, rather than looking for another referral, I need another body to work with us.
If you know anyone that might like to work for Fresh Aire, please pass their details on to me!
- Remember I spoke about the two disasters last week?
- So this week it’s fix it time!
- Redyed the wool rug yesterday, sadly it didn’t go that well.
- With the scrubbing and bicarb she’d used, there is now permanent damage.
- Looks far better, but it will never be 100% – but she was happy!
- Today I pick up the dining chairs and will be working on them under controlled conditions
- This at least I know will go better… but will take time!
- So once again – if you have a problem, don’t try it yourself, unless you have lots of spare cash to throw away!!!
- 2 jobs yesterday, both of which I couldn’t do on the spot
- First one a lovely rug, dog pee vs wool with the dreaded bicarb thrown on it.
- Ummm… no, not a stain, it’s damage. Price just went up from around $400 to $1000, just because of what she’d done to it herself!
- 2nd one, beautiful linen dining chairs – she hired a machine from Bunnings and did it herself.
- Her cream-coloured linen is now a muddy brown colour in need of restorative cleaning. $220 quote has gone up to $550
- Both attempted themselves, both a miserable fail
- Is it cheaper to do it yourself? Sure, if you don’t mind bad results…
- These two would’ve saved themselves a considerable amount if they’d left it to a pro!!
- Another job this week that was both laughable and annoying in the same breath
- A “cleaning” attempt by another unqualified person
- 2 stains, one apparently a resin, the other one a kid’s marking pen
- Both attempted two times, both a miserable fail
- Resin – I literally grabbed with two fingers and peeled off. A little oilr residue easily removed with a bit of detergent.
- Second was a water based kids texta… so a water based lubricating detergent and a bit of flushing took care of that!
- Brainpower required – ZERO!
- Effort required – minimal
- Yes, they walk among us!!
- Need it done properly? Then you know who to refer!
- What services do we provide?
- Carpet Cleaning PLUS
- Upholstery cleaning
- Tile and grout cleaning
- Leather cleaning
- Spot dyeing
- Minor flood work
- Stain Removal
- Inspections and Assessments
- Rugs
- Microseal Protection

- So if you know anyone in that sphere that need a good cleaning of their carpets, be sure to put in a plug our way
- Seems this weeks has been one of hairdressers
- 3 jobs, 2 hair dyes, one colour bleach
- Hair dyes not the eaiest!!
- Already cleaned – but no success!
- No surpricing, one was two were colour gain, one colour loss – So needed a good once over
- So it was a case of out with the chemistry kit and a bit of magic late, the dyes were gone
- In the case of the bleached area, it was playtime with dyes, putting colour back in
- But at the end of the day, 3 very happy (and relieved customers!!
- Get to work with people with chemical sensitivites
- Often it’s a simple perfume allergy, other times it’s cleaning chems
- We have the solution!!
- We have cleaning agents that can foot the bill!
- Non-carcinogenic, non-flammable, non-mutagenic, no odour, completely biodegradable
- So why not use it all the time? Cost!
- It is expensive, but we have customers with severe allergies that love us for it
A definite breath of Fresh Aire!
