- Vacuuming, potentially the best thing you can do for your carpet but the most misunderstood by customers?
- Pull along vacuum cleaners? The worst of the worst for carpet! Just skims the top, but pulls very little out in reality
- Pull along with powerhead? A little better, literally pulls out twice as much as a normal suction barrel vac! But still relatively ordinary.
- Stick vacs/ Convenient and great on hard floors, but pretty pathetic on carpet!
- Robovacs? Great for hard floor, but actually damaging to carpets!!
- Old school, upright vacuum cleaners? The absolute best and the reason that , as professionals, we use them!
- So, if you really want to maintain your carpets properly and extend the times between cleans, uprights are the way to go.
- Had another one of those calls today. A stain on the carpet, so some Facebook commentator says of course just use bleach! Mistake #1
- Oh no, now we have a big yellow mark (Bleach strips colour and yellows nylon!). Another Facebook expert says coffee can stain it back to close to the original colour – let’s do it! Mistake #2
- Fortunately, they didn’t try for the hattrick and called us instead, but they’d already turned a $280 stain removal into a $600 job!!
- Don’t trust “opinions” you find online because you’re trying to save yourself a few dollars – instead spend a few dollars so that you don’t end up giving yourself a lot of grief and an even bigger dent to your bank balance!
- Sometimes we get called for specialist jobs in more “exotic” locations. We had one such one a week or two ago.
- The job was in Peppermint Grove Beach, just out of Busselton. The issue was some dirt on a brand-new lounge suite that was apparent upon delivery.
- Apparently, just one corner, but the customer was wanting a new lounge suite that was also clean!!
- So, Franco drove down there to sort out the issue… which took all of 5 minutes to sort out! But at least ended up with a happy customer, which is what the retailer was wanting.
- Got an unusual job that needs some professional attention, then think of Fresh Aire, no matter how far away it may be!!
- We just love exotic fibre blends 18% polyester, 11% cotton, 22% linen and 49% viscose, was one that we attended last week. To make matters worse, someone else had had a go at the suite already – ugh!
- It was one of those huge, awkward ones as well with feather filled cushions and all sorts of browning issues from the previous clean.
- So, could we resolve it??
- The answer is yes, but it took two of us going hammer and tongs for 4.5 hours!! If had been just one person on their own, at least 9 hours to do!!!
- I think it was one of the most challenging ones we’ve ever come across, but we managed to get a great result for our customer!

- What happens when you walk through your bedroom with a bottle of bleach?
- Well of course, you trip over the junk on the carpet and spray it all over the carpet – HELP!
- Fortunately, we got the call from this customer to come and deal with it rather than going to Google and making things worse!
- We were able to go in and recolour the carpet back to a pretty good result, even if I do say so myself!
- If you or anyone you know ever has issues with colour loss, don’t forget that we can come in and recolour your carpet.
- “It’s wintertime, so we don’t want to clean carpets cos they’ll take too long to dry.”
- But many of us also have a lot of tiles that may need doing as well, and they can be a source of utter annoyance with those grout lines that just won’t clean up. Sound familiar?
- Well, the good news is that you can get them cleaned up quite happily as even in wintertime, chances are that the tiles will be 90% dry by the time we pack up and leave, even on the wettest day!
- So, if your tile and grout is raining on your parade, get that breath of Fresh Aire into your house and get us to clean them. Your floors (and your knees) will thank you!
- We’ve had a couple of instances in the last few months of brand-new furniture with a less than brand new smell!
- In fact, the smells were as if something had putrefied.
- The issue we had was that the smell was deep within the structure of the furniture and in no way accessible for us to clean!
- So how could we resolve it??
- Fortunately we are more than a one trick pony and after investigating just what the issue was, we decided on a gaseous, ozone-based treatment.
- 24 hours later, in both instances the odour had been eliminated, leaving behind a fresh scent and very happy customers whose noses were no longer being assailed!
- If you have something “on-the-nose”, be sure to give us a ring to sort it for you!
- Tiles are one thing that can be the bane of the householders existence. The grout lines just don’t clean up and people love to hate them as a result.
- We, on the other hand, love to love them! They respond well to a little bit of chemistry and our specialised tools, leading to a markedly different look once we have finished, a very satisfying feeling.
- But the problem is if the customer then continues cleaning the same old way, using a mop and detergent – the guarantee that the problem will reoccur!
- That’s why we always advise our customers to clean using 100ml of methylated spirits in a litre of (preferably) hot water – and a microfibre mop!
- Standard detergents leave sticky residues behind, standard mop heads just swill that and a layer of dirt behind. This builds up in the grout line layer by layer, turning them black again.
- So get us to clean them, use metho/microfibre and save yourselves a bunch of $’s as well as grief!
- This week, Darren and I attended a quote for a PM.
- Already cleaned by another contractor, but a very ordinary job at best.
- The operator obviously had no training and was doing what they thought was the way to do it.
- But their best was far from adequate, and the $300 dollar charge they had has bloomed into a $1500 repair job instead!
- We were too expensive apparently, with our initial quote being just under $700 – which now appears to be a bargain comparatively.
- Once again, need it done right the first time? Get Fresh Aire in!
- Well, that was interesting!
- Tuesday, Darren and I attended a job in North Coogee, beautiful house overlooking the ocean.
- The house was only a few months old, but the carpet had suffered a rather serios incident where their dog, currently on meds and needing to pee a lot, couldn’t get her attention in the middle of the night. So, of course, he relived himself on the beautiful wool carpet!
- Panicking the next morning, she was aghast when she saw what had happened, so she tried fixing it herself with the aid of dear Mr Google and yep… ruined it!
- She called one company, they declined upon seeing it and gave her our details. Challenge accepted, we set to work and within the hour, had one very happy customer.
- So happy, she just had to hug us!!!
